  • BellaThe Fecal Exam helps us determine if your new puppy has any unwelcome parasites living with it. If testing is positive, we can recommend treatment for your pet.
  • Please do not take your new puppy to a public location (park, kennel, daycare, beach) until it is fully vaccinated at 4 months. There are many dangerous viruses that can still be contracted before full vaccination is reached.
  • We recommend spaying/neutering your puppy between 4-5 months. While under anesthesia, this is a good time to do the Rabies vaccine and also to microchip your new puppy.
  • The first Rabies vaccine is good for 1 year, each time after that it will be good for 3 years.
  • The microchip is a small chip about the size of a grain of rice that in inserted under your puppies skin between the shoulder blades. This chip carries a specific number, when scanned this number can help reunite you and your puppy by providing your name, address, and phone number if your puppy gets out. Even if you keep your pet indoors or in a yard, some emergencies or natural disasters can release them into unknown areas. Microchipping your pet will get them home to you safer and faster.
  • The annual Wellness Exam helps us to get to know your pet, and identify problems before they get severe and/or costly.

Licensing:
San Diego law requires all dogs to be licensed. The license goes hand in hand with the Rabies Vaccine. At 4 months, with the first Rabies Vaccine, we will help you license your pet. If you spay or neuter your pet at the same time, your first year of licensing will be free. As you renew your Rabies Vaccine every 3 years, you can renew your license at the same time. It is less expensive to license a spayed or neutered animal.
